Pat began his talk by announcing, "The battle between film and digital is over!" "Film lost". "Usher in the era of lost images." "Theyre on your hard drive now; but you can loose your stored pictures in a micro second." "What to do?" (Ask Pat). But, hey, if digital can be so ephemeral, maybe those hard to burn albums arent so bad after all. On the other hand the photographs fade. Any help here? While you at it, your tips on printing and printers.

Digital, Digital, Digital, thats all you hear today when the word camera comes up. Like all new gadgets & technologies that become wildly popular, it doesnt take long before the market is saturated with scads of brands, all kinds of new features are available, special attachments can be added, and there are offers that seem too good to be true! All these options and choices breed oodles of questions and beg to be answered.

Thats where Pat can help. He is the founder-owner of, Bay Photo Watsonville, an independently owned, digital imaging and full service specialty photography business serving the Pajaro Valley and Monterey Bay Area. His broad knowledge and expertise derives from more than 25 years of experience helping people preserve their pictorial memories; most recently, from 7 years of assisting and teaching people to transition into the digital age. In true Rotary spirit, Pat teaches a free monthly class on digital photography.

Pat got everyone's attention when he talked about those hundred-year-old photographs many of us have on the mantel, lining walls, or in stacks of albums. These oldies and the new digital images can all be preserved for viewing a hundred years from now if we take prophylactic measures now. How? At what cost? Are all systems permanent? What about Kodachrome slides from yester years? Pat has good news to report.

Tomorrows heirloom images are being lost today. Bring your questions and cameras when Pat comes to your club. Regrettably, noon clubs only. Gas money would be a nice gesture if his journey is long.
