If you have any curiosity about this ancient craft, here’s an opportunity to see a demonstration that combines “old-world hot-working techniques with modern proprietary technology”.  This can happen without having to go to Venice, Italy.  Jamie Maslach, President of the Firelight Glass Works in San Leandro, brings the story about the history of one of the oldest crafts in the civilized world right to your meeting place.

To accomplish this, Jamie brings all the necessary AV equipment to assist him in  illustrating and narrating the story of this ancient craft and the advances which he and his firm have introduced into the craft in modern times.

When this program was given at Almaden Rotary, frequently asked questions were about the kinds of sand used, which ingredients make glass alabaster, green, yellow, red, blue, green, etc?  How about lead glass or the glass for telescope mirrors?  Save up your questions and be ready to ask them when you invite Jamie Maslach to speak to your club.  Strike while the glass is molten. Call him.
