Tamaki Oi

Tamaki is a Fukuoka native and majored in home economics. Currently works as a sub-leader for a management support team at a waste recycling company in Fukuoka. In 1994, her company invented a wood chip recycling vehicle, and currently distributes to 30 locations within Japan and continues to do research in wood chip recycling. Her numerous responsibilities include accounting, computer network management, orientation of large waste matter, research and planning as a project member for new projects.

She has always been interested in recycling methods overseas and felt this knowledge was necessary in order for creating new recycle systems in Japan. Many Japanese people want a simpler method of recycling and she hopes to learn more about the way the other countries’ recycles on this trip. Tamaki is highly curious and is the type to gain knowledge from subjects she finds interesting. She also feels having many friends is important and makes friends easily. Tamaki looks forward to this study exchange.

Tamaki attended culinary school for two years and enjoys emulating favorite dishes from restaurants at home and food pairing with wine. Her specialty includes traditional Japanese cooking (Osechi – special New Year dishes).
