The Map

After our pit-stop in Hoi An, we headed to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) for the remaining week-plus of the trip. Upon arrival in HCMC, the GSE team toured several sights around the bustling city, including the Reunification Hall and the War Crimes Museum, which makes for a heavy afternoon of VN-leaning documentary and photography from the Viet Nam/American War. During our first evening in HCMC, we were hosted by Sue McKinney and a phalanx of ex-pats, local businesspeople, and the inbound Vietnamese GSE teams for a pool party. Our team had a great time meeting a host of locals and getting to know more about the GSE teams soon heading to the States. At the conclusion of the evening, we dispersed to our individual home stays and readied for the next day.

The team also embarked on a day side trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, in Cu Chi Tunnels.

During the next two days, our team finalized our remaining agenda and filled it out with vocational and cultural meetings, visits, and sight-seeing. We met with one of the leading software technology firms in Viet Nam, discussed business ethics with a loan and collections broker, toured Hewlett-Packard’s sales and marketing office, and were hosted by the US Consulate for a lively overview of US-VN commercial and governmental relations. All were uniquely interesting and fulfilling.

We even had a meal of BBQ scorpion one night.
