Nang On to Ha Noi, Viet Nam - charming, peculiar, quirky.
We arrived in Viet Nam on March 9 and immediately Our first meeting was with the Vietnamese
Chamber of Commerce,
and
the
four concurrent
teams
presented
themselves
to
a rapt
audience
of forty-plus. The goals of the VCCI are to The day followed with meetings at the US State and Commerce Departments via the US Embassy. Meetings at the Commerce Department focused on USAID and US investment into Viet Nam, along with a brief on what business issues stem from the US and Viet Nam via the BTA (Bilateral Trade Agreement). The GSE teams finished the day by attending a dinner hosted by the Ha Noi People's Committee. On our final day in Ha Noi, after returning from three days traveling in the North, we visited the World Bank and Ha Noi Business School. Karen, Michael then met with a Telecoms and Agricultural Specialist for lunch. The Ha Noi
Business School was quite
interesting, and the team spent two hours with nine students
from Viet Nam's first English speaking MBA program. Roger Ford,
an inactive Rotarian, was the facilitator of the exchange and GSE
team
and students alike left having discussed much information. We finished the day with a visit to the SOS for Children's orphanage, where might delivered clothes and donations to the orphanage for a friend. Michael's friend has been sponsoring Mahn, the young boy with the red tie in the middle of the picture to the right, for the last seven years.
