Trip Details Bangkok Bangkok Ha Noi Mai
Cho Ha Long Bay Hue Da
Nang After our initial day-plus orientation in San Francisco,
we boarded our flight for the two-leg, nearly full-day of travel to
Bangkok. Arriving a tad weary but fully excited, we were greeted at
the airport by our Thai Rotarian hosts. The team settled into the Golden
Dragon Hotel, We spent our first full day touring the city with the three other GSE teams to Viet Nam; in all, we were twenty bussing around Bangkok. Our first stop was the Grand Palace, an expansive, sprawling temple featuring psychedelic scapes of golden, shining statues, temples and beautifully restored murals. The team snapped roll upon roll of shots, and moved on to take a tour of the Teak Palace, an ornate, meticulously manicured complex stuffed with turn of the century photographs of Thai royalty, aged typewriters, and beautiful furnishings. To round out our first full day in Thailand, the four GSE teams cruised through the city on a breezy dinner river ride, featuring a great dinner and a one-woman Thai string section, all made possible by our Thai Rotarian hosts. Upon our arrival back to port, several GSE team members toured the night market and elected for Thai massages and live music. We were graciously hosted the following day by our Thai
hosts for dinner and our first Rotary meeting in The GSE teams were given the next day for some free time to snag a Thai massage or two, take another river tour, stroll through markets, and soak up (or be soaked by) humid Bangkok. Some of even went dancing and singing one night. We rounded out our Bangkok leg by attending the Thailand
Rotary District Conference. With well over two thousand in attendance,
we were hosted
by the four district governors from 3330, 3340, 3350, and
3360
and Rotary International President Bhichai Rattakul. Team
