Career Path for Work on a District Committee:
|
| |
Service on a club
committee in the same area. Special interest and/or
expertise in area of service. |
| |
|
| How
Do I Get a District Committee Assignment?
|
| |
Most committee chairs,
especially those with many members or subcommittees,
welcome additional assistance or even attendance
at committee meetings by Rotarians trying to learn
about the committee. Major Event committees fall
into this category. Find the name and phone number
of the chair for the committee of interest from
the Governor-Elect, Assistant Governor-Designate,
or appropriate Avenue of Service Director-Designate.
Then call that person to determine when the committee
meets. Several committees meet in advance of the
Rotary Year of the Governor they serve (e.g., District
Directory Committee, District Assembly Committee,
Rotary Foundation Committee). If you are seeking
a one-person assignment and you
possess expertise in the area of the assignment,
it is best to let the Governor-Elect know of your
interest during the fall before he or she assumes
office. He or she also makes appointments of qualified
Rotarians to certain restricted membership
committees, such as the District Finance. If you
wish to head up a new committee
that has not existed before, request consideration
by the Governor-Elect during the fall before his
or her term begins. |
