Rotaract

RotaractRotaract is a Rotary International program for young adults, ages 18 30. More than 7,800 Rotary clubs sponsor Rotaract clubs. There are approximately 180,000 Rotaractors in 158 countries.

In District 5170, there are currently 6 Rotaract clubs with a probability of two new clubs forming this year. More than 130 Rotaractors are registered in this District. Rotaract clubs are usually community-based or college/university-based. In District 5170, Silicon Valley Rotaract and Livermore Valley Rotaract are community based clubs; the College of Alameda Rotaract, DeAnza Rotaract, and San Jose State University Rotaract are College/University based. However, Stanford University/Palo Alto Rotaract is a combination University based and community based club.

Rotaract clubs enable young adults to grow personally and professionally within the Rotary culture by providing opportunities to work together in local and world fellowship, dedicated to service and international understanding.

Rotaract clubs usually meet every two weeks. (See club contacts below) Programs and locations vary, to include featured speakers, discussion or planning sessions, and joint meetings with other clubs either in their home district or other locations. Rotaract gatherings may also be for social events, service projects, or leadership development.

Rotaractors are invited and encouraged to participate in their local club and district events, activities, conferences. They are also invited to join interdistrict as well as international leadership and networking events.

District 5170 has a Rotaract District Council which is composed of all of its Rotaract clubs and their sponsoring Rotary clubs. The Council is led by an elected District Governor who serves for one year. The District Governor is supported by elected assistants who serve for one year also, in a variety of leadership capacities such as Leadership Development Chair, Professional Development (Networking) Chair, New Club Development Chair, Interact Liaison, Secretary, Treasurer, and Finance Officer. The District Council meets once each month on the 2nd Tuesday evening. The Council is represented on the Rotary Cabinet by the Rotaract Chair and the Rotaract District Governor or his/her designated representative.
